Where vines of different varieties thrive
The Plonerhof Winery near Merano/Meran: a wine paradise
Vines of various varieties thrive at our Plonerhof Winery in Marlengo/Marling – most likely because of its unique location. But not exclusively. Because only the perfect interaction between climate, soil, and winegrower can result in authentic wines of excellent quality. The mild climate proves to be ideal for the growth of vines. The imposing mountain ranges around Merano/Meran protect the weather-sensitive grapes from the cold northern wind, while the warm air flows into the region from the south. Large temperature differences between day and night, as well as sufficient rainfall, ensure a pronounced flavour of the grapes. The sandy loam soil with granite, slate, and gneiss deposits provides the best conditions for vines. The roots of the vines penetrate deep into the loose soil and absorb the minerals that make our wines from the Plonerhof Winery so unique.
